Intimate Time with God – Part 3

Gardenia

A Time to Every Purpose Under Heaven

God always has a motive. I often find I don’t know His true motive for a thing until either I’m in the middle of it, or I’m sitting at the end. Today, I received…

I received that day off from standing before the congregation leading worship, and being under scrutiny, to simply be with and worship my LORD.

I received a cleansing movement of the Holy Spirit from the moment I sat down in the 8:30 service, at the church I attend while in Georgia, to the end of the 11:00 a.m. service. This comes in several forms for me: tears, joy or dancing. Today, the Spirit worked all of those things through me. I loved that I didn’t have to hide it from plain sight out of fear people wouldn’t understand. Although, apparently my emotional voice was amplified enough while singing to reach the ears of those around me. As usual I was brought to tears as people near me turned to compliment His gifting. (I pray I never cease to be humbled by this act of kindness.)

I really felt compelled in my walk by the strong sermon offered by Pastor Rex; his deep conviction of the Word of God is so full of truth that this world desperately needs but can’t seem to receive! Pastor Rex hit on something that I sense whether I’ I’m in Thomaston or not – Where God finds you always feels like home. Indeed. I tell people this is my sanctuary because it’s where Jesus found me. Praise him! Praise HIM! Hallelujah, praise the Lord!

I received the gift of participating in an amazing discussion about the Bible, in a group of Jesus loving, Holy Spirit filled brothers and sisters in Christ. Of having this love they have for Him, extended out and over me as they recognized me as one of them. As each one of them opened and closed the time together with such an outpouring of genuine lovingkindness toward one another. Oh, if only I could afford to hop in the car and make the 9-hour drive more often…!

Most importantly, I received an opportunity to pray for and lay hands on my dear friend who has done nothing but love on, instill godly wisdom and just pour into me over the last nearly 7 years. She has been walking through a health issue that I know (because I know her well) is scary, as she is a very active person. I relayed a message from the Lord and as she looked me in the eyes, I knew she received it.

If this trip was for no other reason but to pray for her healing, I thank the Lord. I don’t know how much more richly intimate time with God can get! My friend and her husband give so much to others and it’s difficult for her to receive, but I know she received this. Just after we returned from church (which is where I prayed over her), she mentioned that the issue she was having, seemed to be better already. That is the amazing God we serve.

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you…” (Matthew 7:7 ASV)
