Moving Beyond #MeToo: How to Emerge

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.” (Galatians 6:7-8)

I’ve learned over the past nine years how God will use my life as a testimony to help others receive healing through glorious hope. With the Lord’s help, I have overcome shame and discomfort over those things that were handed to me as a vulnerable child, and then followed me throughout life. Victimization in the form of molestation or sexual abuse, is something that has been passed down through the generations, affecting life after life; not just mine, but countless others. Understanding how deeply it runs in this world literally draws me to tears and fills my heart with heaviness, so I know God mourns over this as well. When the #MeToo movement came about a couple of months ago, I did not blink at adding myself to the monumental list of people who came forth, bravely admitting they too endured sexual assault, abuse, etc.

“For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.” (1 Thessalonians 5:3)

One must be blind not to know this activity happens in the most influential institutions of our country: Politics, entertainment, educational institutions, and yes, even the church, sadly. But we, as a nation, can no longer ignore predatory behavior. Those who’ve suffered at its hand already know, it is not limited to those aforementioned industries or places. Yielding this kind of pain upon another person is an act of violence usually stemming from a need for power of some sort. In my case, I was a child (3 or 4 when it began) – he was a strong, teenaged neighbor whose mother had died and for all I know, he too had endured some sort of abuse in his life. I believe I was not his only victim. Recalling how I reacted to him years afterward – it was like some strange mind control – how I desired his attention…Considering how a stop was put to the molestation, my reaction that day surprised me, but today I understand much better “why.”  (He was extremely uncomfortable, seeing me, as he knew what he’d done to me. I was 18 and hadn’t seen him in at least 10 years.)

God is using stories such as mine, Hollywood superstars, the girl on the street, my male friends – and many others – to tear the veil on such disgusting things being kept in the dark. He is shredding the lives of men and women who inflict such pain on others, yet seem to have benefitted from it, so they are now reaping what they’ve sown. Please pray with me, those coming out in the open are protected, allow proper healing to come into their hearts and most of all, learn to forgive. But, if you’ve seen some news reports, the dark forces working in this country have tried to silence two of the most vocal victims: Cory Feldman and Rose McGowan. Believe, friends, these incidents of arrest for drug possession was Satan’s way of attempting to discredit them in the public eye. To keep control! I’m pretty certain that scheme backfired! (I am not condoning drug use, nor do I know if the allegations are true or false.)

Believe this: There is absolutely no mistake in God’s timing for releasing me (and those with similar stories of survival) to finally publish a memoir depicting the events of victimization, and how Jesus pulled me from accepting it as my dealt hand in life. He has timed it perfectly so that those coming forth and out of the grips of this extremely oppressive spirit might read, and be inspired by, the stories of survivors who have found truth, worth and everlasting joy in a Savior named Jesus. I know the Lord desires I share a portion of my book in light of all of this, via this blog, but am waiting on a clear word on exactly what to share, prior to the book’s release. Why? In order to engage people in conversation not only revealing such illicit activity in our culture and world, but to turn the conversation toward how to lead those victimized toward hope, victory. Leading people on how to love them back to life the way Jesus teaches. Even more importantly, survivors need to find the right kind of strength in order to fight the good fight. Those affected need reinforcements from heaven, not hell, and many at this point are fighting for their very lives and souls.

God has strategically placed people with very discerning spirits and stable hearts, in situations and environments where they are able to help people break free from the bondage of secrecy and oppression, so they are no longer victims, rather victors, amen! Please join me in praying for not only victims but the predators, for they too need deliverance and forgiveness! Also, and importantly, pray for those secret agents of God’s army, out there being His light in dark places, in Jesus’ name!

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding, which must be curbed with bit and bridle, or it will not stay near you.” (Psalm 32:8-9)
