Twitter, Society and God: This is Not a Political Post

“If the world hates you, understand that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, the world would have loved its own. But because you do not belong to the world — on the contrary, I have picked you out of the world — therefore the world hates you. 2Remember what I told you, ‘A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you too; if they kept my word, they will keep yours too. 21 But they will do all this to you on my account, because they don’t know the One who sent me.” (John 15:18-21 CJB)

This morning I finally deleted the Twitter account for this blog. (I’ve never had one under my name.) Just after logging in I was bombarded with the expected topics about what occurred in the U.S.A. this week. A personal friend had posted something and I scanned it, then right underneath it caught site of something truly ridiculous and false. I wasn’t even following or know of the person to whom the post belonged (Judd Aptow): a video of President Trump, Ivanka, Donald Jr, and staff, as he waited to to deliver a speech (I presume on Jan 6 at the rally).

The video was taken by young guy on his staff as they waited, who was playing around with a young woman on the staff as she danced to the classic song “Gloria”  heard in the background. To anyone who actually looked at the tv monitors DJT, Ivanka and Don Jr. were standing before and scrutinizing, it was obvious they were anxiously awaiting the coming moment, very serious. However, the post said this, “Trump and family watching the riots from the Capital Building.”

Things like this are the biggest reasons why I stopped logging onto Twitter years ago; many people who actively participate are out to push others to an emotional reaction. It is a very sad world to live in, friends, when this is acceptable behavior. What is even more sad: people who are completely sucked into this whole false narrative we’ve been fed by the government, would see the headline of the aforementioned post (since Twitter is about short attention spans), yet, not take time to see what’s actually happening in the video. They assume it’s true, then react.

For those who claim to be Disciples of Yeshua/Christ this is completely against who we are created and called to be. We are called to live in this world, but not to be of this world. Meaning, we are not to participate in, nor make our focus, that which is not from Him. We must use our spiritual eyes and discernment as we navigate these shark infested waters. What I “see” around me is quite concerning – Believers getting caught up in manipulation and blatant untruths, taking things the media/social media produces and fanning the flames into a wild fire. Friends, this is not only a Twitter, Facebook or YouTube problem, it is a universal and spiritual problem: our attentions spans have been shortened by cultural shifts that influence not only what but how we think. Especially people in the United States have been conditioned since WWII to simply accept truths being fed without question; encouraged to trust our government when both the Holy Bible and The Constitution of the United States of America clearly denies that man can be trusted. We are to question the government and not allow it to be all consuming. We have been given unalienable rights through both sources.

When our spiritual eyes are set on Him, we come to understand that it’s not about social justice, critical race theory or anything of the like – it is about knowing the Word and He who breathed it out. It is not about knowledge, it is about the heart condition of humanity. It is about laying down our personal offenses over ignorant people changing words around to fit their “outcome”  and seeing the real problem: our flesh. Just like the Ancient Hebrews, Christians, Messianics, Hebrew Roots folks and the like, are choosing to focus and depend on the wrong god. Point in case, a “pastor” whom also serves in the United States Congress, prayed a prayer where he added “a woman” after saying “amen.”  Most people in my circle (and across the board from what I can see) who reacted I doubt watched the entire video – for this was their focus. While in the same “prayer” this “pastor” also prayed to the Hindu god Brahma.  A false god. I’m sorry friends but that should concern you way more than the former (“a woman” insertion).

In the Gospel of John, chapter 15 (v 5-6), Yeshua/Jesus states something that all Believers need to remember and adhere to:  “I am the vine and you are the branches. Those who stay united with me, and I with them, are the ones who bear much fruit; because apart from me you can’t do a thing. Unless a person remains united with me, he is thrown away like a branch and dries up. Such branches are gathered and thrown into the fire, where they are burned up.”  Friends, why are you striving? You are not called to do things that are not His will. We know the outcome…does He call us to stand up and fight society? No – He does not. He calls us to be a witness of Him to the world. The Creator’s economy is not the world’s “currency” it is souls…lost souls. Even, if not especially, the lost brethren who aren’t walking uprightly, we are called to minister and witness to the brethren, hold them accountable with grace and mercy, This in order to bring them back into their rightful place in the Kingdom.

Yes, it is important to understand the enemy of this world – how he thinks and moves around – but we also cannot forget that same enemy has dominion over it as well. Our jobs are to help tear down the spiritual strongholds so people are liberated. We are to battle with spiritual tools, not those which are “man-made.” The solution is not difficult if we empty ourselves out and are willing earthen vessels:  We sow the LORD reaps. We minister, in Spirit and truth, He heals. It’s cyclical and it is beautiful when we as willing vessels get to witness His workmanship. We need more of His love and mercy upon others flowing outward to those who do not walk with him, who aren’t strong in their walk, than anything else in this dark time we are staring at. Then, once they know they are loved and their sights are on Him the body can equip them in their very own spiritual defense armor!

Oh Adaonai, I come to you in the name of Yeshua HaMashiach/Jesus the Messiah, and ask that you send down your warring angels and Spirit to unbind your people from the strongholds of their minds and hearts. Give those of us who have our eyes set firmly on you to join them in battle, the right way…Your way! Help us set the called and the imprisoned of your chosen, free. This so we may go out rightly girded with Your battle plan and with Your weapons defense to not satisfy human flesh but Your will. Let it be done, Adonai! Move us into position. Let us encircle the city like the Children of Israel encircled Jerusalem and let the weak walls of the enemy’s hold come tumbling down – but through Your power not our own. Not through our intellect but through Your HIGHER Thoughts, thoughts we cannot fathom, working through the spirits of your people here on earth. We seek Your power and strength to carry us through the battles which ensue around us, amen!

“If you remain united with me, and my words with you, then ask whatever you want, and it will happen for you.
This is how my Father is glorified — in your bearing much fruit; this is how you will prove to be my talmidim.” (John 15:7-8)
