“Ask, and it shall be given to you. Seek, and you shall find. Knock, and it shall be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it shall be opened." (Matthew 7:7-8)
As I sat at my desk this morning, preparing to write, the verses above came to mind.
In turn, to understand what the Holy Spirit wanted to relay, I did what it suggested:
I asked (prayed),
I sought (Him, his voice)
I knocked (I opened His word - a door to Him - and studied the context around the verses, and also a bit of commentary to see if it aligned with what I "heard" - as He opened the door.)
What is Yeshua/Jesus saying here and what did He want us to receive?
These verses are typically not interpreted or used correctly much of the time by Western believers. (I cannot speak about the rest of the world.)
What, first and foremost, should one be praying for, seeking, and knocking on a door to receive?
God (YHVH) alone!
Friends, if you use these verses out of context - believing they are telling you to go and pray for possessions, a job, etc. - like many pastors and teachers, hence many in the body believe - PLEASE STOP!
Please...
Why?
Yeshua/Jesus would never have suggested we seek more than a right relationship with the Almighty. For increased faith. A Faith that leads to His life flowing through us and peace...being able to receive all that The Father is. (And to accept all that He is not.)
This was the entire pretense of Yeshua's life and ministry.
