Surrender – Part 2 – For Kelly

“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power…” (Colossians 2:6-10 The Holy Bible, KJV)

I have been asked by my dear sister in Christ, Kelly, to share with my readers part of her testimony. I prayed upon her request, knowing her heart is that the ordeal she has been walking through for the past 3-4 years, and where the Lord has brought her as of yesterday morning, would be evidence of just how mysterious God is. Of why He allows things in our life that run its course until WE finally surrender to Him in a way which dumbfounds us. The irony is that through Kelly’s ordeal, God has used her as a handheld mirror of my own life at present.

Kelly has been a woman after God’s heart for 25 years. Has her life been perfect – hardly. Has Kelly done all she could to stay in alignment with the Lord – yes, I believe so. Her passion for Christ is intimidating; I thought I was intense when in discussion about the Lord – then I got to know her! However, the first time I met Kelly (at a Women of Faith group we participate in) was in a moment of weakness; she was a woman in much need of support, kindness and answers! The Lord opened my heart and flowed out compassion toward her situation; He propelled me forth to offer her comfort and a word of wisdom.

Months, went by before I saw Kelly again. I hardly recognized her as the Lord had so kindly put his garment of grace about her, gird her loins and before us appeared a woman of incredible strength and fierce passion. Again, I felt moved to have a conversation with her…this time we vowed to get together and discuss what was going on in our individual lives and pray for one another.  God, as always, knew what He was doing in connecting two women who chase after the Truth. He brought together two of his girls for His glory. God revealed to me some things about Kelly that would be important for He intended to use me in her life, and I would need to be very bold in listening and conveying the Spirit’s leadings where Kelly was concerned.

Kelly, for the past three years, has been afflicted with illness. No doctor in the area has been able to conclude that anything is wrong… “but that something is terribly wrong.”  What all of this non-sense with doctors had led to was a breakdown of Kelly’s strength and resolve. When we got together the first time, she had pretty much accepted death. She was in fear…I recognized the symptoms because once upon a time, many of the symptoms her body was projecting, I suffered from too. (And, at that moment in time, I too found myself afflicted with symptoms and seeking the Lord on the cause…) I had once been delivered of the lies of the enemy and was determined, with the Lord’s help, to pull Kelly from the enemies grip!

At first, I was only allowed to plant a seed to the root of the issue. Then others came behind me and watered it, allowing her to be more open to hearing from people and not just directly from God. You see, He wasn’t answering her questions; He was working quietly as he orchestrated the path her life would take, in order to fully gain her attention. It’s unfortunate that it has taken so much time and rapidly declining health to finally make her inclined to “listen” to those whose path she has crossed.

Last week, Kelly went to the Mayo Clinic to seek answers. By the day she ventured north, she had already let some things go she’d unknowingly held in her spirit. She felt more positive and I had gotten her to understand she MUST stop speaking death over herself or that is exactly where God would let her go – into the grave at 47 years of age. She was over-analyzing every symptom and turning it into stage 5 cancer, without even having a diagnosis. I got in her face one evening and told her to stop! Didn’t she realize that every time she opened her mouth to speak those lies, she was not trusting God. I advised that when the temptation arose to say such things, she immediately ask the Lord to bind her tongue.

Coincidentally, after her visit, Mayo told her the same thing, they weren’t sure what was wrong, but additionally her body was producing an exorbitant amount of red blood cells.

Again, fear festered and during our monthly WoF meeting last Saturday, when she opened her mouth fear started pouring out onto the floor. I could feel my spirit lurching and with no warning, I suddenly heard coming from my mouth a stern, “Kelly!” I have no idea what that sounded like to her but she ran over and lay her head in my lap, hugging my legs, then went back to her seat. Everyone was a bit stunned, until I explained why, then Kelly followed in agreement that she needed to be more aware of what she spoke over herself.

Since that day, God has put more food for the spirit into Kelly’s life. The seed I had planted, germinated. Then, the night before last, I believe the stem finally broke through the ground. She was brought to the realization that she had neglected to completely surrender the pain, oppression and soul-tie of her former husband and that relationship, to the Lord. She then did so, on the spot! That night, Kelly slept soundly through the night for the first time in four years, hallelujah!

As we discussed the matter, we were excited! To us both it was a miracle and the beginning of healing because in case you don’t understand this, the body (and mind) that is exhausted and stressed 24/7 cannot heal itself. That night of sleep, resembled the first sign that whatever it was Kelly had been carrying around in her spirit, causing her to fall into this mysterious illness, was finally released. Now, we pray the flower will start blooming and the life cycle will begin again. During our conversation she felt she finally gained understanding of what God had been trying to bring to her attention and that He was killing off things from her past, in order to make her a new creation, once again.

I ask you to join me in prayer that Kelly’s spirit continues to heal; that a wellspring of health and wellness await her around the next turn. Thank you Jesus for your ability to bring forth discernment about that which we must allow to die and be freed of, in order to be whole in and for you, ourselves and your purpose for our life. Thank you for your divine ability to heal, to devour sin, to love us back to a place of peace and understanding; for giving us people whom you use to bring us messages of Faith and Hope; to love on us when we need it most. You are awesome and there is NONE LIKE You, Jesus!

Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit. (Jeremiah 17:7-8)
