As you Wonder Down That Path Adonai May Be Testing You

(Daniel, has just received the prophecy regarding the anti-Christ when he is confronted by the angel Mikha’el [Michael] to receive final instruction on what Adonai has revealed…)
“…Those who are wise (discerning) will shine like the brightness of the heavenly expanse. And those who turn many to righteousness will be like the stars forever and ever…Many will run back and forth and knowledge will increase.’.. 10 Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will act wickedly. None of the wicked will understand, but the wise (discerning) will understand. (Daniel 12:3-4,10 TLV)

There is a path that thousands who call Yeshua/Jesus Christ, LORD, are being led down; this “ancient path” involves diving so deep into Yahweh’s (God’s) Holy Word that you may not come out the same Believer you once were. This can either be very good or very dangerous. Regardless, be careful as you wonder down any new path, for Adonai may be testing you. If discernment (wisdom) is not your spiritual gift, or if your walk is not steady, then it may prove dangerous! I’ve been led by the Spirit of Adonai (Holy Spirit) to share  what He has recently planted in my heart, in this regard.

Ecclesiastes 3 so eloquently states:

“For everything there is a season
and a time for every activity under heaven:
a time to give birth and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted;
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build up;
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance;
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing;
a time to seek and a time to lose,
a time to keep and a time to discard;
a time to tear apart and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak;
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

What gain, then, does the laborer get with his toil? 10 I have seen the task that God has given to the children of men to keep them occupied.”

Awakening to the Jewishness of Jesus

I now recognize that the path I have been sent down, in my spiritual journey these last 2.5 years, has been an awakening to deeper understanding, but also a test of sorts. It began with an awakening to the “Jewishness” of my Savior (if you do not “see” that Jesus was Jewish, I encourage you to pray for those blinders to be removed). I was blessed to be transplanted to an area where many reside whom are also on this spiritual path; being allotted time in their midst to learn and grow in my own understanding of just what this means for a Disciple of Yeshua (Jesus Christ) is a huge blessing. Prior to relocating to Tennessee, I had already received revelation that something deeper was missing from the “church.”  For whatever reason He saw fit, the LORD decided to get me alone in order to present me with this fork in the road, if you will.

The verses from Ecclesiastes are very fitting concerning what I have witnessed, prayed over and things I needed to unlearn – both from former years and the recent past. You may be a long-time reader of this blog and perhaps scratched your head a bit when I first presented where I was being led…I was kind of scratching my head too. Alas, I was being obedient in sharing with you where Adonai had me, then and now. However, I’m being led to share what I have observed, because I believe I have been a proverbial fly on the wall for His purpose. This has definitely been a time to uproot what had been planted, a time to tear down and build up, a time to embrace and refrain from embracing…and a time to be silent. But now, per His directive, it is time to speak so that – I pray – things can mend and turn into love. As we all are seeing around us, it is a time in the earth for war and Believers need to be making peace.

If you are unaware, there is an entire “movement” (their word not mine) surrounding the path I entail – the Jewishness of Jesus, Hebraic roots, et al. There are splits in said path, many splits – just as there are in mainstream Christianity. There are people across the globe being confronted with this path. Some resist and do not take the new path, others go so deep into the forest they get lost. Both are unfortunate.

Resisting the leadings of the Holy Spirit

By not following the leading of the Spirit to follow Him (and that is only if it’s the LORD leading you, not others), you miss out on a deeper and greater understanding of who Yeshua/Jesus was (is) and how he lived his life; therefore, you will continue to miss the many many nuances contained in His very words and even in His silence. Where does this path lead? It leads to studying the entire Word of God through Jewish or rather Hebraic eyes. It entails studying the Books of Moses intently and gaining understanding that you may not possess of the Bible. Why? Because too much is left to interpretation otherwise. Most of what Jesus says refers directly back to the Tanakh (Hebrew Bible) aka Old Testament. Through this understanding, one comes to realize that there are things missing from the modern church that should not be. Interpretations that do not actually grasp the original text or context. (The understanding of scripture I have gained through this season is dumbfounding.)

While this is a conversation for another time, and I don’t plan to be accusatory here but please understand, there are appointed times and seasons (moedim) spelled out by Adonai in the entire Bible that the modern church dismisses completely. There are other Words spoken by Adonai that are dismissed as well, despite His stating these things should be carried forth, forever. This is not good. It blatantly undermines the Creator of the Universe. Yeshua/Jesus, carried out the feasts and commandments, as did all of the apostles. Being on this journey has opened my eyes and heart to what I had always wondered: why so much spoken of in the “first half” of the Bible was missing from the Body of Messiah, at least in Western culture.

However, there are certain feasts mentioned in the Bible that a Follower of Yeshua/Jesus should observe but not feel pressured into participating in, namely Yom Kippur (Yom HaKippurim), the Day of Atonement. Why? Because our sins were atoned for by Yeshua/Jesus when he laid his life down. Yes, we need to repent for our sins, however, if we put our Trust in Yeshua they are already covered by the Blood of the Sacrificial Lamb! Therefore, we no longer need to seek atonement annually (as unbelieving Jewish people do}.

Yeshua is the atonement

One must tread carefully if they do choose to take this path. I was blessed with the opportunity to fellowship with Believers in different places of this journey – from 2 years to over 20; teachers, book authors and Hebrew language readers! Former Catholics, atheists and Jews. In person and online. But, and this is a deep BUT, the Spirit of Adonai within kept holding me back from getting too involved. It was a struggle and one I didn’t understand. I questioned the LORD often, seeking understanding! The only answer I continually received was not to take on a Jewish identity because my identity is in Yeshua.

You may be wondering why others might believe it necessary to take on a Jewish identity if they’re walking with Messiah…

Exactly…!

How does this happen?
1. When one is hurting (emotionally, by life events  or the church) or still resists sanctification, they tend to be easily swayed towards something that makes them feel like they belong; or their ego is inflated with knowledge, and in that inflation or newfound sense of belonging (or trying to belong) they may lose sight of Yeshua HaMashiach/Jesus Christ.

2. It can happen quickly when you are listening to teachers who do not recognize Jesus/Yeshua as THE Messiah and you stop hearing mention of His holy name, and start hearing that he was not also God, just a man, not the Messiah, etc. (I am talking about Jewish Rabbi’s or even Messianic or Hebrew Roots “teachers.”)

The test

Venturing down the rabbinic path is a very slippery slope. One may begin to believe that the Jewish path to righteousness outweighs that which we were given through Resurrection power. While the Spirit of Adonai was ever present in the days of Abraham, Moses and in prophets like Daniel; and indwelling in people such as Samuel, Esther and Joshua, unbelieving Jew’s today do not have the Spirit within. They have religion. I dare not call it “legalism” because this term needs to be thrown out with the bathwater! (It is derogatory.) Simply put, once one starts immersing themselves into things like the Talmud, they may subconsciously stop seeing Yeshua/Jesus as The (ABSOLUTE) Way in this life.

The Spirit warned me, often, not to lose sight of my Savior; not to release the hem (tzittzit) of his robe (Talit) that once pulled me from the gutter. In recent weeks, I have come full circle in this season of my walk. I’m not saying I’ve learned everything there is to learn or that I’ll stop studying the ancient ways of my Savior – no, not at all. What I am saying is that the Father revealed what I am in the midst of because I refused to lose sight of my Savior, or dismiss what the Spirit was whispering into my ears about ‘not becoming Jewish’. Ironically, this feeling of peace occurred while observing Yom HaKippurim (September 2021); He actually sent me to chapter 12 of the book of Daniel and highlighted this verse:  “Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will act wickedly. None of the wicked will understand, but the wise (discerning) will understand.” v10

What I have come to understand is that this path has also been a test of my faith. A test to see if I would bow to another god or become an apostate, just as it states in the Word that Believers will do in the end days. It hurts my heart to see that so many could already be heading that direction! If you are staring at this slippery slope I hope you will hear this warning of love to be careful!

My hope is that you’ll find encouragement not to turn away from your faith in Jesus/Yeshua, regardless of where you are in your walk. Keep grabbing that fringe! With all the chaos around us now, I pray weekly, if not daily, to be strengthened in my faith and to be pulled closer into the Father and Yeshua’s heart. I hope you do too!

Oh, and to any whom may have feared I was straying or going the “wrong” way, please trust that will never happen! I am my Beloved’s and my Beloved is mine! Amen.

  1. When we wander outside of the individual and personal leading of The Spirit, we can find ourselves once again bound to religion and works and really, every snare that is not a faith that rescues one from these things. There are SO many distractions today. Many physical, many spiritual. But in reality, all are spiritual in nature and intent. This is such a timely word today. I’m glad I read this tonight.

    Our eyes, and our eye, affixed upon Yeshua is our only hope. You and I both know what this world is bound to experience and endure. The end of all things and the reconciliation of all things. We know to whom we belong. Always.

    Fret not. You are here for a reason and purpose that will spiritually always be unfolding before your eyes. Born, for such a time like this.

    Shalom my sister
