As you Wonder Down That Path Adonai May Be Testing You Part 2: An Addendum

All the people witnessed the thundering and the lightning, and the sound of the shofar, and the mountain smoking. When the people saw it, they trembled and stood far off. 19 So they said to Moses, “You, speak to us, and we will listen, but do not let God speak to us, or we will die.” 20 So Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid, for God has come to test you, so that His fear may be in you, so that you do not sin.21 The people stood far off, while Moses drew near to the thick darkness where God was.” (Exodus 20:18-21 TLV)

As I was writing my last post, “As You Wonder Down That Path, Adonai May Be Testing You”, I understood there was more that Adonai wanted to say on the subject. In fact, later that week I had an in-depth conversation with a close sister in the Faith, whom has been in this season of her walk much longer than myself. During that conversation we found much to agree upon and some slight differences of perspective, which is to be expected. Then a comment was posted by someone I know, thanking me for the post…and I knew I had to pen this addendum to the initial post. So, here goes…

The ‘lifting of a veil from people’s eyes’

As previously mentioned, Adonai is leading people to this Truth or deeper understanding of His word as a test of one’s faith. (I tend to call it the ‘lifting of a veil from people’s eyes’.) The flip-side is that there are those that “call Him LORD, LORD”…but He knows you not. Meaning? You are participating in sin of one or various kinds and He is sending people back to the “roots” of His covenant in order to get them back on the right path. Which path? The righteous path and not one they’ve created for themselves, or possibly mirroring behaviors or practices of others.

The Ruach HaKodesh/Holy Spirit revealed, while I was writing part 1, how there are people who need to go down this path in order to be brought into a right place in the eyes of The Father. Also, there are those who received Yeshua/Jesus as their savior and received grace, but failed to allow actual reconciliation to The Father through sanctification and deliverance from sin. Perhaps they went the grace route and won’t allow that deeper work required of those who call on His HOLY name, in order to enter the Kingdom on the day of Yeshua’s second coming.

Steadfast obedience

I am going to support this with scripture because that is the best way, rather than explain in my own words. Suggested reading, in full, Exodus 20 (Sh’Mot) (or Deuteronomy 5 [D’Varim] for the recap) where Adonai first gave Moses the 10 Words or Commandments, perhaps reading the remaining laws as well. In Deuteronomy (D’Varim) 5:26, Adonai states [to Moses] something truly fitting:
Oh, how I wish their hearts would stay like this always, that they would fear me and obey all my mitzvot; so that it would go well with them and their children forever.”

Do you see that last word, forever? Adonai means forever, not simply on that day, or only for the people called Israel, rather for all who come to Him seeking grace and mercy.

Why?

Because anyone who calls on the name of Yeshua/Jesus (God made flesh, the Savior) is grafted into Israel. Paul, who was a proud Jew, was sent out to preach the Good News of the Gospel to…the gentiles (non-Jews). While doing so the Spirit of Adonai revealed His mysteries to Paul, “Surely you have heard about the stewardship of God’s grace that was given to me for you, that is, the mystery made known to me by revelation, as I have already written briefly. In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, which was not made known to men in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God’s holy apostles and prophets. This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are fellow heirs (with the Jews), fellow members of the body, and fellow partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 3:2-6 BSB, words in parenthesis mine, found in several translations including the Good News Translation and Complete Jewish Bible)

We are brought into this fine-tuning in our understanding of the word so we do not believe everything we hear. So that in the times ahead, when the Lawless one appears on the scene and starts deceiving even Believers with his craftiness and persuasive words, we will not be moved. We will remain steadfast in the TRUTH of the Word because we have deep understanding of the Word from beginning to end. Not the theology of man, rather the everlasting covenant with our Creator, with Yeshua, until the end:

“We will then no longer be infants tossed about by the waves and blown along by every wind of teaching, at the mercy of people clever in devising ways to deceive. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in every respect grow up into him who is the head, the Messiah. Under his control, the whole body is being fitted and held together by the support of every joint, with each part working to fulfill its function; this is how the body grows and builds itself up in love.” (Ephesians 4:14-16 CJB)

Be a pleasing fragrance to God (repent of sin and be reconciled!)

Ephesians 5 goes into further detail, in support of the Laws/Instructions of Adonai in the Torah books of Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5:

“So imitate God, as his dear children; and live a life of love, just as also the Messiah loved us, indeed, on our behalf gave himself up as an offering, as a slaughtered sacrifice to God with a pleasing fragrance.  Among you there should not even be mentioned sexual immorality, or any kind of impurity, or greed; these are utterly inappropriate for God’s holy people.  Also out of place are obscenity and stupid talk or coarse language; instead, you should be giving thanks.  For of this you can be sure: every sexually immoral, impure or greedy person — that is, every idol-worshipper — has no share in the Kingdom of the Messiah and of God.  Let no one deceive you with empty talk; for it is because of these things that God’s judgment is coming on those who disobey him.  So don’t become partners with them!” (Ephesians 5:1-7 CJB)

For you used to be darkness; but now, united with the Lord, you are light. Live like children of light, for the fruit of the light is in every kind of goodness, rightness and truth —  try to determine what will please the Lord. Have nothing to do with the deeds produced by darkness, but instead expose them…” (Ephesians 5:8-11 CJB)

Therefore, pay careful attention to how you conduct your life — live wisely, not unwisely. Use your time well, for these are evil days. So don’t be foolish, but try to understand what the will of the Lord is. Don’t get drunk with wine, because it makes you lose control. Instead, keep on being filled with the Spirit —  sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs to each other; sing to the Lord and make music in your heart to him;  always give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah.” (Ephesians 5:15-20 CJB)

In His own words…

Suggested reading: Romans 5 and 6, in full. To emphasize why it is important to allow your old man die in Messiah/Christ and be reconciled:
So then, are we to say, “Let’s keep on sinning, so that there can be more grace”? Heaven forbid! How can we, who have died to sin, still live in it?…We know that our old self was put to death on the execution-stake with him, so that the entire body of our sinful propensities might be destroyed, and we might no longer be enslaved to sin.” (Romans 6:1-2, 6)

And to end this addendum I’m quoting Yeshua’s/Jesus’s own words; because I know with all of my heart it is, and will be, the Ruach HaKodesh/Holy Spirit leading people to this path and asking they make a choice. Not just to take the path but to choose life over death:

“And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment; concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me; and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me; and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged. “I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you.” (John 16:8-15 NASB1995)

May the deep Shalom (peace & wholeness/wellbeing) of the LORD be with you, brother and sisters!
